VOLUME
Volume draws from the spirit of 1950s Brutalism in Singapore, exploring how a material often perceived as hard and heavy can be shaped to convey character and presence in design. Collaborating with Martlewood, we worked with fiber-reinforced concrete to develop a collection of monolithic furniture forms.
The collection pares furniture down to its essential structures, where form, structure, and ergonomics come together in angular compositions that feel both strong and balanced. Familiar typologies—stool, barstool, chair, armchair, bench, and ottoman—are reimagined through a language of simplicity and quiet solidity. The armchair version was first produced for the SingaPlural design event and later went into production for retail.
